How to take stress out of your travel

My husband has treated me to a lovely surprise. We are going away in a couple of days to St. Marteen:).

We are preparing for the trip as I write this.

Because so many clients have asked me how I get myself ready for my vacation or a trip: what snacks I take, what do I eat when I go out, how much water does one need to drink, I would like to share with you my best traveling tips.

TIP 1: I always start with the TO DO LISTS.

LIST 1: At least one week ahead of departure, I write all the things I have to do to get ready for my trip.

One large page of TO-DO’s for each day! It helps me to get organized and spread out the work evenly over the week so I’m not in a panic – drop off my clothes to dry cleaning, food shopping, dog food shopping, appointments, laundry,ironing, hair salon, mani-pedi, etc. …   as well as my work schedule, workout schedule and targeted bedtime (that I have to admit doesn’t work well so far. I always manage to stay up longer and read, relax or meditate, oh well…)

LIST 2: At the same time prepare a list of things to pack – clothes, cosmetics, books, shoes, belts, hats, bathing suit, sun lotions, and other stuff. This way you will know what needs to be washed and ironed and you will know what you may be missing…  which gives rise to list 3

LIST 3:  Prepare a shopping list of the things you need to buy for your trip.

TIP 2: Hydration & cleansing – preparing your body to relax

A week before my trip I start to drink more water and go on a light cleanse. Why? It’s by far the best way to get my body ready for the sun and relaxation that’s coming.

AQUA is the magic word.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – get the water in to every single thirsty cell of your body.

Your body is going to be very thankful for it… and your brain and your skin and even your liver! And, you are going to feel lighter and better in your beach outfits.

Have a glass of AQUA with lemon next to you all day long… and all night…

Start your day with a big gulp of AQUA + LEMON every day!

This simple step wakes up your body and is a good habit to carry into your vacation for all the same reasons!
