Have You Been Thinking About a Cleanse?

Have you been thinking about making changes in your way of eating and finding ways to combine new, healthy and delicious foods, make nourishing juices and smoothies and choose snacks that will help you have more energy, slow down your aging and look and feel great?

Food changes everything, and a cleanse can be an effective and fast way to kick-start your way to a New Fabulous You.

My cleanse is not about drinking water with cayenne pepper for a week or more...

Cleansing means giving your body a break from rich and complicated foods by paring down your food to just simple fruits and vegetables, lots of water, freshly made juices and perhaps some whole grains. Without much energy going toward digestion, more energy is available to the rest of your body for restoring, repairing and healing.

The right cleanse can produce amazing long lasting results, like:

  • more energy
  • weight loss
  • better fitting clothes
  • glowing, younger skin
  • stress reduction
  • better sleep
  • improved digestion and immune functions
  • less pains and aches
  • less cravings and binges
  • increased stamina
  • and much more...

To give my clients the most benefits out of the cleanse I incorporate it into my Fabulous New You Nutrition Program. I created an easy to manage three phase process to get you from where you are to where you want to be.

Phase one is an evaluation of your existing diet and learning important facts about the main components of a balanced diet. Also included are a kitchen and pantry makeover and a healthy shopping store tour with an eye-opening lesson on how to read nutritional labels.

The next phase is an introduction to your new "fountain of youth" and a way of eating based on nutrient dense food. Depending on your cleanse style you'll explore raw food, juicing, smoothies and I'll teach you how to incorporate them into your cleanse. We'll discuss some hot topics like plant based diets, gluten free living, dairy, milk and cheese, anti-inflammatory and alkalizing foods.

The third phase will allow us to step out of the cleanse into every day life with confidence and supported with tips, tricks, shopping lists and recipes to prepare you for your new healthy lifestyle. I'll guide you to slowly and gradually return to an eating style that best suits the Fabulous New You and your unique needs.

While we’re cleaning out your body we won’t forget about your mind and spirit. We'll incorporate relaxation and meditation techniques and create some "me time" during the cleanse. We'll work on throwing away some negative thoughts and habits you’ve been harboring that will no longer serve you.

So, how does it sound to you?

Join me and let the journey begin!

With Love,
Renata

Happy Spring Break! Healthy Traveling

Spring break is here and many of us are preparing for a nice weeklong vacation. What a relief!

Quality family time is our highest priority; but, let’s not forget that our good nutrition is a way of life that we shouldn't leave it at home.

So let's talk about how to stay in balance while traveling, relaxing, and having a great time with your family.

images.jpeg

It all starts with Travel Day...

1. Smoothies for everyone!!!  Even when you are up and at 'em to get an early start (like at 4AM to catch an early flight!!!), having your smoothie to start your day of travel will make a big difference in how you and your kids will feel all day.

2. Hydrate!!! Have water with you and hydrate. Especially avoid sugary drinks – they can have 16 or more teaspoons of sugar in one bottle. They don’t quench your thirst and your kids don’t need the sugar rush.

3. Bring snacks and your own lunch... peeled orange or nectarine, apples, dried fruit, dark chocolate, nuts, homemade trail mix and wraps, etc. By having ready snacks and healthy food on hand at all times, you will keep yourself from arriving at your destination feeling totally starved. So, instead of being Starvin' Marvins ready to wolf down large volumes of whatever when you finally arrive (or, worse yet on the road), you are feeling good and ready to enjoy your good times.

Tasty Wraps With Avocado and Hummus recipe attached at the end of this post.

Once you arrive, your number 1, 2, and 3 priorities are to RELAX and have FUN!

Here's how to stay in balance so that you get the most pleasure out of your vacation indulgences:

1. A fruit heavy breakfast. Maybe not a smoothie but always try to include a large fruit salad and juice in your morning menu.  It will keep you feeling light and energetic all morning long.

2. Stay Green. While indulging on some non-green treats, make sure that there is still plenty of green in your meals. Salads, soups, especially vegetable-based soups, grilled or steamed vegetables and other good side dishes are a wonderful complement to whatever treats you choose to enjoy.

3. Hydrate!!! I sound like a broken record; but, the multiple benefits of hydration (especially if you are spending a lot of time outdoors) are just as important on vacation.

4. Walk a lot. And, exercise if you can. If you are on a sight-seeing trip, walk wherever possible. If on the beach, walk the beach. At the end of the day you will be a healthy kind of tired that will make it easy to sleep well at night.

5. Catch up on your Z's. If not now, then when?

By sticking to these principles, you will find it easier to relax, have fun and truly enjoy treating yourself to guilt-free pampering! And, isn't that what a vacation is all about?

Happy Spring Break!

With Love

Tasty Wraps With Avocado and Hummus

2 Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortillas

1-cup hummus (homemade or store bought)

1 cup shredded lettuce or baby greens

2 roasted red peppers, sliced

2 carrots, peeled and grated

1 avocado, peeled and sliced

¾ cup alfalfa sprouts

Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Place each tortilla on a cutting board. Spread equal amounts of hummus in a horizontal line about 1 inch from the bottom of the tortilla. Arrange lettuce, red peppers, carrots, avocado and sprouts on top of hummus. Season with salt and pepper and roll up as if you rolling sushi or a burrito, tucking in the sides as you goes. Cut in half and serve as a sandwich, or roll tightly and cut into thick slices to be served on a platter.

Bon Voyage! Healthy Traveling

Since our good nutrition is a way of life we shouldn't leave it at home when we go away on vacation.

Before my trip I shared with you some tips on how to get ready for a vacation or big trip.
Today let's talk about how to stay on track while traveling, relaxing, dining... and wining.

By following these simple steps I created for you you can get back from your vacation relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated without gaining those few extra pounds.

It all starts with Travel Day...

1. Don't forget your smoothie!!!  Even when you are up and at 'em to catch an early flight (like at 4AM !!!), having your smoothie to start your day of travel will make a big difference in how you feel as you and your body are transported from station to station (car to airport to plane to airport to car .....) before you finally arrive at your destination.

2. Hydrate!!! Have water with you and hydrate constantly.

3. Bring snacks... peeled orange or nectarine, apples, dried fruit like mango or raisins, dark chocolate, nuts, trail mix, etc. By having a ready snack on hand at all times, you will keep yourself from arriving at your destination feeling totally starved. So, instead of being Starvin' Marvin ready to wolf down large volumes of whatever when you finally arrive (or, worse yet on the plane), you are feeling good and in balance and ready to enjoy your good food and good times.

Let the Good Times Roll!

While you are on vacation your number 1, 2, and 3 priorities are to RELAX and have FUN!

For me, I don't like the "weighted down" feeling one gets from eating too much heavy food; but, I do like to treat myself well and to enjoy the pleasures of fine food and other forms of good relaxation.

I personally find these pleasures to be most enjoyable when I follow my principles for staying in balance while adding more treats than I would usually do...

So, here's how I stay in balance so that I get the most pleasure out of my indulgences:

1. A fruit heavy breakfast. Maybe not a smoothie but I almost always try to include a large fruit salad and juice in my morning menu. It's what I am used to eating and like to eat...   and it keeps me feeling light and energetic.

2. Stay Green. While indulging in some non-green treats, make sure that there is still plenty of green in your meals. Salads, soups, especially vegetable-based soups, grilled or steamed vegetables and other good side dishes are a wonderful complement to whatever treat you choose to enjoy.

By sticking to these principles, I find it easier to relax, have fun and truly enjoy treating myself to guilt-free pampering! And, isn't that what a vacation is all about?

Bon Voyage!

With Love,
Renata

February 2012

What happened to your New Year's resolutions?

New Year, New You - what happened to your New Year's resolutions?
We’ve all been there. We take a vow to lose weight, exercise more,... fill in the blanks. But then sometime in February we quickly relapse into old habits.
Here are some tips on how to make your intentions a reality ALL YEAR THIS YEAR!

Sign up for Your Own On-On-One "FABULOUS YOU" PROGRAM with a bonus initial consultation

More info below.

And then:

1.     Write down your intentions and keep them in a visible place, like the refrigerator or your bedroom mirror or the dashboard of your car.

2.     Get to the source of whatever is keeping you in a rut. Are you in a stressful relationship that causes you to eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s every night? Are you stressed at your job and feel too tired to exercise after work?  If you don’t tackle the root of the behavior, it will be much harder to accomplish your goal.

3.     Be clear about what your life would look like once you achieve your goal. If you resolve to go to the gym more, how will this benefit you? Get connected to the result of your action, and you will be more likely to stick with your plan.

4.     Share your resolutions with friends and family. Hold each other accountable for achieving your goals. If you want to go to the gym more, have a friend call you two or three times a week to check on you or invite them to join you.

5.     Reward yourself with every little accomplishment. If your intention is to lose weight and you lose 1 pound a week, pamper yourself with a massage.

Big changes do not require big leaps. Permanent change is more likely to happen gradually than through one big restrictive plan. Allow yourself to climb the ladder one rung at a time.
